New Work at Rue Royale.....NOLA

These are just some of the paintings that arrived at Rue Royale.  Deborah will be more than willing to help you if you want to stop in and say hello.  She loves to tell the "story behind the painting" when there is one.  The paintings look great on her yellow walls.  Go see and tell her I sent you.

Paintings Delivered to Galleries...Oil Paintings to NOLA

LeJardin/Adorn Galleries 610 and 612 Royal St.

Rue Royale Galerie 813 Royal St.

Last week was a busy one!  I got paintings delivered to my two galleries in New Orleans, and got to celebrate my mom's birthday with her there!

I spent the other part of the week getting organized after returning from Shreveport.  This week I start on some commissions that are pending.  But first I get to go wrap a painting up and send it to a new home.  Another repeat customer wants something she saw at the Revel.  : )

I love this painting.  It may be my favorite church I have ever done.  I just love the louvered part on the steeple.  And the long tall arched window.  But I can't keep them all....so I'm glad this one is going to a good home.  And it already has a sibling there!  lol

Red River Revel-ry......Art show 2014

This is a shot of my booth on the opening Saturday of the Revel.  Those of you who follow me on Facebook have already seen most of these photos.  But my blog is such a history of what goes on with my art that I wanted to be sure it was all recorded here as well.  Plus some of these good folks that bought paintings may check in some times and I want to have their photos on here when they do.

It was fitting that my last sale for Revel 2014 was to one of my first customers from my first Revel in 2009.  Kathryn is a one person party and is the source of many fond Revel memories.  Not to mention a loyal customer.

This last photo was taken about two hours before the end of the show.  The booth still looks sort of full.  But what you don't see is that my only outside wall on the left is almost empty and the three sets of louvered doors that I had at the front sides of the booth are all completely empty.  So all of the work I had left was compressed into the inside of the booth.  And when I loaded the car to come home....you could definitely see out the back this time.  : )

Red River Revel new art work (Miscellaneous).............oil paintings

8x16....Tabasco

10x20...Comin' at Ya

36x36.......Dusk on Canal

12x24....Streetcar

12x24.....Balanced Diet

A few more miscellaneous paintings because time is running out and I leave tomorrow!!!

And one more thing I like about the Revel.  The atmosphere in general.  It is such a community event.  Families turn out for all the festivities, old friends run into each other and reconnect, there is music and laughter and just a general hum of excitement that the Revel is finally here and fall is in the air!

Red River Revel Paintings (Flowers)....Oil Paintings

12x12....I Luh' You Poppie

16x20....Tulips in Blue Vase

9x14......Tulips on Table

9x14........Wildflowers

8x8.....Cotton Boll I
More paintings for the Revel.  Flowers have traditionally sold well for me in Shreveport.  I love the name for the first one...if you heard J'Lo sing her song on American Idol this past season, you'll get it.

Now for my thing that I love about the Revel for today.  My booth is near one of the stages that features local performers.  I get to hear the music and see the dance groups perform.  Very entertaining talent over the course of the week.  The downside of this is that we get to hear the participatory dance program (done for the 4th graders that are bussed in from all over) repeated about 6 times each day every week day.  "I am a co-re-o-grapher.  Can you say choreographer?"....after six years, believe me I can say it!

New Paintings for Red River Revel (Food)...oil paintings

8x16......Crawfish

12x12....Oyster on Halfshell

12x12....Crayfish Square

12x12.....Tomatoes Everywhere

12x24.....Sliced Tomatoes

8x24.....Gumbo

8x8......Pear Still Life

12x12....A Little Crabby I

This is more work that I am packing to take to the Revel (see previous posts).  You may notice that my title names these paintings in the category of "food".  Someone was looking through my print bins one day and laughed when he came across the crabs and the crawfish (as well as shrimp and oysters) in the bin labeled "food".  All I can say is he "must not be from around here".   In the South, these are most definitely food.

And now for another facet of the Revel that keeps me coming back.  I think I will call it the "neighborhood" that I am in.  Well-run shows generally try to put your booth in the same area as it was when you came before so that your customers will know where to find you.  I am lucky enough to be neighbors with an great group of folks that look out for each other and enjoy hanging out together.  When you are there for as long as we are it helps to be around nice people!

These are some wine (and one Tequila) related paintings that will be unveiled at the Red River Revel.

As I said in a previous post I plan to show new paintings each day and mention something that I particularly like about the Revel.

Today I am mentioning the staff and volunteers that take care of us there.  They are some of the nicest people you could ever want to know.  They run an organized show as far as set-up and administration goes.  And they take good care of us by having an awesome crew of volunteers feed us and bring us water and just generally check on us from time to time.  They really appreciate the artists and it is definitely not that way at every show.  So my thanks to them...I look forward to seeing them Friday!
