Check Please!.....black and white check series....Oil paintings
These are from my new series "Check Please!". They are each 12x12 on gallery wrap thick canvas. They are done in oil paints with a collage technique that creates the checked motif and cool extra texture. They can be purchased separately or as a set. I absolutely LOVE the direction that this series is headed! More to come after grandbaby is here and spring festival (Double Decker) in Oxford is over.

Softer Palette....tomatoes, pears, cotton.......Oil Paintings
10x20..............................Tomatoes Just Waiting
12x24....................Pear Still Life
8x16....................Cotton In Field
I have experimented a little with a softer palette of colors for some of my paintings. Some homes need the softer approach. I like these, and as you can tell, they are not TOO soft.....just soft-er.

8x16.....Single Pear

I love to paint pears. I have said it before. It is still true. I have tried other fruits and I keep coming back to pears. The just have more personality than most other fruits. That's all I can say.

Three Pears and a Celebration!!!!! Oil paintings and #30 of 30 paintings in 30 days!
12x12 (set of three).....oil on canvas.....$170 ea.
Well it is here! The thirtieth day of the 30 in 30 Challenge! This is me taking a bow...I accomplished what I set out to do plus a little. I thought I would celebrate with a set of three paintings to go out the a splash. Pears are one of my favorite subjects.
During this thirty day challenge I did, indeed, post thirty new fall paintings in thirty days. And I think I only missed one day of getting my painting posted to the host blog, Slices of Life by Leslie Saeta, that was the epicenter of the whole event. With my own blog, when you schedule a post you can set it to publish when you are out of town. But you have to go in each and every day to post to the host blog, waiting till that day's post is up and running so that you can add yours at the bottom. So I only missed one day of doing that.
The big deal is that I sold 2 paintings just from the blog alone. Yay! I haven't, in the past, sold as many straight from the blog. But I can and I will in the future!
Congratulations to all who successfully completed the challenge! A lot of great art was created in the course of this event and Leslie Saeta is to be congratulated for a job well done!

Three Amigos.....Oil Painting.....# 7 out of 30 Paintings in 30 days...
10x20......oil on canvas........$240
I paint pears almost as much as I paint tomatoes. Pears have the most "personality" of any fruit I know.
I had a great day today being a part of the "50 paintings in 50 Hours" celebration at the Mississippi Museum of Art. I got to paint, talk to great people, spend time with my wonderful daughter AND see a Van Gogh, a Cezanne, a Manet, a Monet, a Renoir, a Bonnard, and many more fabulous paintings ALL in one day!
I'm tired but it's been a great day!

Fruit, Vegetables and Still Life....Oil paintings
SOLD
I paint a lot of pears and tomatoes. The painting with the wine bottle and the oranges was a new set-up for me and I like the results a lot. I also featured my McKenzie-Childs enamelware tray in the bottom painting. Another first. And I REALLY like it because it is sold already.

Welcome to those of you who are joining me from Facebook, thanks to my sweet daughter-in-law's mention in her status. I have the best supportive family on the planet!
Also, to those that have subscribed to my blog and get my posts in your email each day that I actually manage to make one(thank-you)...I have a hint for you. If you click on the name of my blog at the top of the email... in my emails from other artists it is written in grey....it will take you to my actual blog. My stuff looks so much better on the blog than it does in the stark white email environment. Just a quick hint to increase your viewing pleasure.

Pear Pairing Oil Paintings......

I am really excited about these two paintings. They are just the type of loose, colorful, funky paintings that I want to produce. I can just see them in someone's classy kitchen. The great thing about the groupings that I do is that they can be hung alone, side by side, or on top of each other. In kitchens sometimes walls come in horizontal patches (backsplashes) and in vertical segments (between doors) so these are great to add that punch of color.
The second festival that I will be attending this fall is the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores Alabama. If you go to their site, highlight "Artist" in the keyboard to the left and then choose fine arts. Boom, I am number three. Also check out my friend, Martin Welch.
We both have an interesting situation coming up. We are both in the Red River Revel (see yesterday's post) and the Shrimp Festival. These are both 4-day shows. WITH ONE DAY IN BETWEEN! I will be by myself in Shreveport...no one is free to come with me. So on Tuesday night the show in Shreveport ends at 9 PM. I have to break down and pack my stuff (normally a 3-hour process with TWO of us!) Then I have to get up early Wed. morning, drive from Shreveport to Jackson, pick up Mike and the trailer with more stuff in it, then hightail it down to Gulf Shores to get there before check-in closes at 6 PM. Then we have to set up the booth still. That can take 4 or 5 hours. The people who visit my booth on the first Thursday the Shrimp Festival opens will probably meet a zombie woman.
The really good news is that the condo we are staying in is in walking distance of the festival (no parking issues) and they offer two free nights if you book 5...and I had to book five for the festival itself. So like we did last year, we will be staying two extra days to relax after it is all over with. I know I will need at least two days!!!
