These are some fun renditions of the traditional crustacean collection that is popular in this area.  I just hate that oysters don't have eyes....it gives them so much more personality!

I have found it hard to decide when enough is enough.  I don't want to continue to bring paintings of subjects that I have painted a lot before, I don't want people to think I can't paint anything else.  But invariably if I come to a show without my seafood series I catch it from more than one source.  So I just try to make sure that I have enough new stuff that people don't think I'm a one-trick pony.

These are some of the creature paintings I have done this spring.  The heron was a daily visitor during our vacation on Dauphin Island last summer.  He was quite a friendly fellow and posed on numerous occasions. 
The redfish was caught by us on our deep sea fishing trip during the same vacation.  He is sort of a combination of the real thing and my own vision of him. 
The crabs are known as "The Crabby Couple II"....the original crabby couple live in Shreveport and they really aren't so crabby.
The shrimp is part of an ongoing series of square paintings of shrimp, crabs, oysters and crawfish.  Cousins of this guy are scattered around all over the southeast.

My Crab, Shrimp, Crawfish, Oyster series is still proving to be a favorite.  They are so versatile... horizontal on a backsplash, vertical in a group of two or three, hung in a block of four, three in one spot and the fourth on an easel on a pile of cookbooks.  Lots of ideas and luckily lots of seafood in the sea!

These are three paintings that I did for the festivals that I have coming up. As I said in a previous post....this is how I want to paint. I love the colorful loose style and the mood of the paintings. And it was a little bit of fun naming them.
