Red River Revel is almost here!!!!

By this time next week I will be all set up and will already have seen some of my Shreveport friends and collectors!  I can't wait to get my double booth (my first time to have one!) set up and filled with all my new artwork.

The painting above is one that I re-worked from last year.  Below is the original.  At last year's Revel one of my visitors suggested that a heron would look really good in this scene.  So I added one and changed the surroundings a little bit.  I like it much better now, don't you?

Come see it in person if you are in the Shreveport area.  The show runs from Saturday, September 28 through Sunday, October 6.  It's bigtime fun!!!  Hope to see you there!

Memories From Red River Revel 2015...

I have so many wonderful memories from the 8 day art show that I just returned from.  I have many long-time friends and collectors in Shreveport.  It was so great to see everyone.  Special memories from 2015 include:

  • Meeting a special young lady named Carson.  She really left an impression on me.  This young lady is going places.  She introduced me to Zentangling.  (Look it up) I sent her a small Heart painting....she is a sweetheart!
  • Seeing clients from the past....the Heberts, the Gambels, the Hubbards, Barbara, and others that are so sweet to come and visit me every year.
  • Seeing other artists, some that I only see once a year.
  • Being back with the fabulous Revel staff....Kevin, Christie, Cathy, and our "Revel Mom" Tony.
  • Meeting Shreveport artist and poet, Gary, and receiving an awesome sculpture and poem from him.
  • Having my sweet husband arrive a day earlier than I expected him.
  • Sharing the Revel with my daughter, who came with me the first time in 2009 and my daughter-in-law and grandtwins who were there for the first time this year.
I hope to do the Revel again next year!  I think I met some new people that will be needing new art by then.

Red River Revel-ry......Art show 2014

This is a shot of my booth on the opening Saturday of the Revel.  Those of you who follow me on Facebook have already seen most of these photos.  But my blog is such a history of what goes on with my art that I wanted to be sure it was all recorded here as well.  Plus some of these good folks that bought paintings may check in some times and I want to have their photos on here when they do.

It was fitting that my last sale for Revel 2014 was to one of my first customers from my first Revel in 2009.  Kathryn is a one person party and is the source of many fond Revel memories.  Not to mention a loyal customer.

This last photo was taken about two hours before the end of the show.  The booth still looks sort of full.  But what you don't see is that my only outside wall on the left is almost empty and the three sets of louvered doors that I had at the front sides of the booth are all completely empty.  So all of the work I had left was compressed into the inside of the booth.  And when I loaded the car to come home....you could definitely see out the back this time.  : )

Finally

8x24

10x20

I am finally back in the blogosphere.  It has taken me a while to get my life back in order after the death of my beloved step-dad and my dear brother.  In 2013 I threw myself into doing lots of shows and painting a lot to keep my spare minutes focused in positive directions.  It was a little much and I am just now getting my feet back under me it seems.  2014 has seen much more productivity and return for my efforts.  I have cut way back on my show schedule and spent more time actually painting.  Lots of commissions have kept me very busy, but not frantic.  I feel like I am regaining control of my life, so that's a scary thought.  That's when something else comes to reek havoc.

My blog plan is to try to post very regularly here for a while and post bunches of work that I have done since my last post (Oct. 2013!!!!).  Moving right on up to my latest projects that will be featured at the Red River Revel in Shreveport, LA in October.

Hope to reconnect with some of you that have followed my blog in the past.

DeSoto Magazine Article re: Red River Revel....

I will be participating in the Red River Revel in Shreveport in a couple of weeks as I have for the last four years.  This is the first year I will be doing the entire week as opposed to just the first half.  It is long hours and hard work, but the fellow artists, the staff and most of all my loyal friends and clients make it very worthwhile.

There is an article in Desoto Magazine about the Revel featuring me and another MS artist.  If you can get past the first time they mentioned me (Brennan!) it is a very nice piece.

You can find the story online at www.desotomag.com then click on the DeSoto Magazine Online link at the top of the page and the article appears on pages 14-16.
